چکیده

Objective We evaluated biofilm production ability (BPA) of Streptococcus agalactiae isolates from companion animals/humans and clarified the relationship between BPA populations other microbiological features. Methods Companion animal-/human-origin were collected with host information. measured using crystal violet staining, via virulence-associated gene profiling (hylB-pavA-pilB-spb1-srtC1-brpA), capsular genotyping, multilocus sequence typing, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) phenotyping/genotyping. Significant difference in different hosts was assessed. analyzed association virulence genotypes, types/clonal complexes, AMR phenotypes/genotypes. Inhibitory effect berberine on evaluated. Results Five, twenty-six, twenty-six belonged to strong, moderate, weak producers, whereas seventeen showed no production. defined or producers as producer group (n = 57) conduct a comparative analysis non-producer populations. There significant correlation population vaginal specimen. found associations presence (57.9%) pilB (70.6%) spb1. phenotypes/genotypes (except for minocycline). confirmed inhibitory at sub-minimum concentrations (MICs) against type strain BPA. Conclusion Our observations suggest that S. harboring is more capable producing biofilms, sub-MICs

Pattern of Infection and Antibiotic Activity among Streptococcus agalactiae Isolates from Adults in Mashhad, Iran

Background: One of the main causes of sexually transmitted diseases is group B β- hemolytic streptococci (GBS) multiplying in the genital tracts. Penicillin is the most common drug for the treatment of infections caused by these bacteria, but in patients suffering from Penicillin allergy, Erythromycin and Clindamycin are used as alternative therapeutic drugs against GBS. Recently, resistan...

Fluoroquinolone-resistant Streptococcus agalactiae isolates from Argentina.

Fluoroquinolone resistance is a growing problem that has only recently emerged in S. agalactiae. Between 2005-2007, WHONET--Argentina network evaluated levofloxacin susceptibility in 1128 clinical S. agalactiae isolates, 10 (0.9%) of which proved to be resistant. Nine of them had come from 5 hospitals (in Buenos Aires City and 4 Argentinean provinces) and recovered from urine (n=7) and vaginal ...

Characterization of Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates from Austrian companion animals and horses

BACKGROUND The aim of the present study was to investigate the genetic relatedness and the antimicrobial resistance profiles of a collection of Austrian Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates from companion animals and horses. A total of 12 non-repetitive isolates presumptively identified as S. pneumoniae were obtained during routinely diagnostic activities between March 2009 and January 2017. RES...

Complete Genome Sequences of Three Fish-Associated Streptococcus agalactiae Isolates

The whole-genome sequences are described here for three group B Streptococcus (GBS) (S. agalactiae) serotype Ib isolates obtained from tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) farmed at sites in Honduras, Costa Rica, and the United States. The bacteria were isolated from the brains of fish displaying signs of streptococcosis.

Biofilm formation, hemolysin production and antimicrobial susceptibilities of Streptococcus agalactiae isolated from the mastitis milk of dairy cows in Shahrekord district, Iran

Streptococcus agalactiae is a major contagious pathogen causing bovine sub-clinical mastitis. The present investigation was carried out to determine some phenotypic characteristics of the S. agalactiae strains isolated from bovine mastitis cases in dairy cows of Shahrekord in the west-center of Iran. One hundred eighty California mastitis test (CMT) positive milk samples were ...
